The western end of one of Ireland’s longest strands, under Mount Brandon.

Fermoyle Strand is the quiet western end of the great Brandon Bay beach, a sweep of sand that runs unbroken for around 12km, one of the longest in Ireland. Backed by dunes and the Owenmore estuary, with Mount Brandon rising straight behind, it is a place for long walks, a swim on calm days and huge Atlantic skies. Even in high summer it rarely feels busy; park at the strand entrance near Fermoyle and walk as far as you like.
