Castlegregory Beach

A sandy beach near Castlegregory village, with dunes and views across Tralee Bay towards the Slieve Mish Mountains.
Castlegregory Beach runs along the shore of Tralee Bay beside the village, on the north side of the Dingle Peninsula. Sand and dunes line the bay, with the Slieve Mish Mountains across the water.
From the centre of the village it is about a twelve minute walk, a little under a kilometre. The sand carries on north along the bay towards the Maharees, so the walk can be as long as you like.
Because the beach faces into Tralee Bay and not the open Atlantic, the water is usually calmer than at Brandon Bay on the far side of the spit. It is used for swimming and water sports through the summer season, although conditions change with the weather and tide. Check local signs and conditions on the day. The beach is on Kerry County Council’s list of Green Coast Award beaches.
Come for a walk along the strand or spend time beside the sea before heading back into the village for something to eat. Our video follows this stretch of shore, showing the beach and the mountains beyond the bay.
