The Old Schoolhouse - Cottage in Cloghane, Co. Kerry

A 200-year-old stone schoolhouse on the seafront in Cloghane, restored with high ceilings and a wood-burning stove. Sea views from the windows, walks and surf from the door, and Dingle twenty minutes away over the Conor Pass.

The Old Schoolhouse sits right on the shoreline of Cloghane Bay, where the colours of Mount Brandon rise behind the house and the water moves just beyond the door. The stone building is over 200 years old and was restored with real care: its history kept intact, with high ceilings, a wood-burning stove and modern comforts like fast Wi-Fi woven quietly in.

Three bedrooms upstairs (one king and two twins) sleep six. Cloghane village is on the doorstep with its community shop and O'Connor's bar, and Dingle town is twenty minutes over the scenic Conor Pass. Walking, mountain climbing, surfing and kitesurfing are all within easy reach, or simply watch the tide cross the bay from the window.

What guests say

The house is right on the water, and the terrace has a beautiful view. Everything is available in the house for a comfortable stay. There is also a pub nearby. It is useful to know that the cottage offers less privacy than you might think at first glance. There is a terrace of a small hotel nearby, and next to the terrace is a passage to the water. Good to know, but definitely don't let that stop

The Old School house was the most incredible place to stay. I could have sat and watched the estuary all day, but there's also a lot to do on the Dingle peninsula. I highly recommend staying here, O'Connor's just down the road, and Murphy's bar in Brandon for food, drink and happiness!

We loved straying at the old schoolhouse. It was really special to stay in an interesting historic building. The view from the back porch was breathtaking. Absolutely beautiful. We also loved walking to O'Connor's pub for a pint. Lovely people and lots of fun. There is also a nice little market down the street to buy a few groceries. The location is great. We did drive to Dingle over Conno
