Explore the waterfront at Fenit Harbour on Tralee Bay, with boats, coastal views and the village beach nearby.
Fenit Harbour sits on the north side of Tralee Bay, about ten kilometres west of Tralee. It is the main port of County Kerry: fishing boats, cargo ships and a marina with 136 berths share the same water.
The pier runs out to Great Samphire Island, where a large bronze monument honours Saint Brendan the Navigator, who is said to have been born close by on Fenit Island around the year 484. Offshore, the lighthouse on Little Samphire Island marks the edge of the harbour.
A visit is a chance to watch the boats and look across the water towards the Maharees and the Dingle Peninsula. Combine the waterfront with the sandy beach beside it or with the village end of the Tralee to Fenit Greenway.
This is a working harbour as well as a place to stroll, so use the public areas and follow the signs around port operations. A walk around the harbour does not include access to the lighthouse.
