Our base in Fenit is The Lighthouse, a three bedroom house for six adults and two children at the Tralee end of the village. The beach is an 18 minute walk, the greenway 17, the harbour 20, and Tralee Golf Club at Barrow a quarter of an hour by car. Book direct and pay less than Airbnb charges for the same dates.
Fenit suits a family who want a beach and a playground within a walk, golfers playing Tralee and Ballybunion, and anyone who wants Tralee close by without staying in town. The Dingle Peninsula is an hour away for a day trip, and Kerry Airport is 34 minutes.
One house for eight by the harbour
The Lighthouse sleeps eight, six adults and two children in bunk beds, across three upstairs bedrooms, each with a double bed, and three bathrooms. Downstairs there is a living room with a fireplace, a snug opening to the garden, a kitchen with a large dining table and a utility room with a washing machine and dryer. Two cars park at the house. One dog is welcome for a fee.
The house is let whole, so nobody else stays there. Check-in is from 4pm with a lockbox at the door and check-out by 10am.
The beach, the harbour and the greenway
Fenit Beach holds the Blue Flag for 2026 and sits beside the pier, sheltered from the open Atlantic by Kerry Head, with a playground and a café at the top of the sand. The harbour is a working port and a marina, with a bronze statue of St Brendan the Navigator above it; the tradition is that he was born here. A wood fired sea sauna runs by the harbour; our walk and sauna story covers it.
The Tralee to Fenit Greenway follows the old railway line from the village into Tralee, flat all the way with the bay on one side, for a walk, a run or a bike ride with children.
Golf from Fenit
Tralee Golf Club at Barrow, the Arnold Palmer links above the beach, is a quarter of an hour by car. Ballybunion Golf Club is 46 minutes and Castlegregory Golf Links 42, so a golf week from the house can take in three courses without changing beds.
Houses to rent in Fenit: holiday lets only
We let The Lighthouse for short stays, from a few nights to a few weeks, not as a long-term rental. If you are looking for a house in Fenit for a holiday, a family visit to Tralee or a golf trip, this is the page; for a long lease, a letting agent in Tralee is the right route.
