The Old Schoolhouse - Cottage in Cloghane, Co. Kerry

A 200-year-old stone schoolhouse on the seafront in Cloghane, restored with high ceilings and a wood-burning stove. Sea views from the windows, walks and surf from the door, and Dingle twenty minutes away over the Conor Pass.

The Old Schoolhouse is a self catering holiday home in Cloghane, a stone schoolhouse on the shore of Cloghane Bay, over 200 years old and restored with its high ceilings kept. The water is just beyond the front of the house and Mount Brandon rises behind the village. The whole house is yours, nobody else stays there.

Three bedrooms upstairs sleep six: one king room and two twin rooms. There is one shower room and two toilets, so the house suits a family or three couples who do not mind sharing a shower. No pets at this home.

Downstairs the living room has a wood-burning stove and the kitchen is a country kitchen with room to cook properly. A washing machine and dryer are in the shed, and there is a boot and drying room for wet gear after a day on the hill or the beach. Fast Wi-Fi runs through the house.

Outside there is a sea front area with garden furniture and a large built barbecue, a patio facing the mountain, and private parking. The house stands directly on the waterfront, which is the point of staying here and also something to keep in mind with toddlers.

Check-in is from 4pm with a lockbox at the door and check-out by 10am. Of our holiday homes in Cloghane this is the one on the water. Choose your dates and the number of guests to see availability and the full booking total.

What guests say

The house is right on the water, and the terrace has a beautiful view. Everything is available in the house for a comfortable stay. There is also a pub nearby. It is useful to know that the cottage offers less privacy than you might think at first glance. There is a terrace of a small hotel nearby, and next to the terrace is a passage to the water. Good to know, but definitely don't let that stop…

The Old School house was the most incredible place to stay. I could have sat and watched the estuary all day, but there's also a lot to do on the Dingle peninsula. I highly recommend staying here, O'Connor's just down the road, and Murphy's bar in Brandon for food, drink and happiness!

We loved straying at the old schoolhouse. It was really special to stay in an interesting historic building. The view from the back porch was breathtaking. Absolutely beautiful. We also loved walking to O'Connor's pub for a pint. Lovely people and lots of fun. There is also a nice little market down the street to buy a few groceries. The location is great. We did drive to Dingle over…

The schoolhouse in Cloghane is charming, comfortable, has everything you need and is in a great location. The pub in town is a 2 minute walk and had live music on the night we went, and there is also a small cafe in the village. There is so much to see and do closeby, we weren’t ready to leave. The views from the patio are stunning. We had meals and drinks outside most evenings and the kids loved…

Outstanding location for nature. You could sit in the garden all day watching the nature unfolding in the bay in front of you. Incredibly peaceful setting. Also close to a pub/restaurant and store.
