The Swallow

The Swallow is a dream getaway for those who value peace, serenity and the sound of nature. This modern home from home is perched on the edge of the Conor Pass valley, Ireland’s highest mountain pass. Offering all the conveniences of home, the Swallow boosts a modern interior complete with old world charm and Irish decadence.

Brandon Mountain to the west looks over the house and the beautiful sandy shores of Fermoyle strand are just a short drive away to the East. The Swallow offers hill walkers a treasure trove of mountains, hills and steep valley passes to choose from. For the intrepid explorer, there are waterfalls that roll into lakes and meander down sheer valley cliffs.

Just a ten minute drive to the south, you will find the bustling cosmopolitan town of Dingle. World famous for it’s gin, whiskey and freshly landed fish. Dingle plays host to an eclectic mix of live music, tapas, food festivals and Irish culture tinged with global influences. The town also boosts some of the best food options on the west coast of Ireland.

The Swallow is a 5 minute drive from Cloghane village, a sleepy old world village where time no longer matters. A firm favourite with anglers, mountain walkers and those looking to plug out from the grid for a week. Cloghane is home to O’Connors bar, a lovely spot for a cold beer, a tasty burger or some traditional live Irish music. Take a step back in time as you walk through this sleepy village, visit the community shop, the fairy trail, the waters edge or sit a while in the peaceful surroundings of the local catholic church which was built in 1828.

Just a short drive from the house, you will find a selection of restaurants serving fresh fish, succulent beef burgers, Chinese food or home cooked local lamb dishes. Walk off the excess of dinner on one of the many woodland, mountain or lake trails that border the house. Sit at Peddler’s lake on the Conor pass and watch the world go by or muse at how the sheep made it to the high ridges above. Either way, do so in the peace and quiet of a landscape that has not changed in over 1000 years.

The Swallow is located in Ireland’s eighth and largest National Park, Páirc Náisiúnta na Mara, with more than 70,000 acres of lands and seas in public ownership. The house sleeps 4 adults and one child and comes with its own private meandering driveway.
